Bur Oak Land Trust
Bur Oak Land Trust’s mission is to advance biodiversity in eastern Iowa by protecting resilient landscapes and connecting people to nature.
We make our community stronger by creating spaces for native species to thrive. Active management practices like prescribed fire and safe invasive species removal allow native Iowa plants, flowers, bees, birds, and animals to have a space to live that is protected forever.
Bur Oak Land Trust offers opportunities for our community to learn about native land management through our Chainsaw Academy program, pawpaw fostering, and outdoor youth programs that are educational and fun! In an effort to make more Iowa land open to the public, regardless of socioeconomic status, 11 of the 12 Bur Oak-owned properties are free for the public to hike and explore.
